Logan & Elize
Thank you for taking the time to consider us as potential parents for your child. We have been looking forward to growing our family. We look forward to witnessing the passion, love and joy grow in this child and can't wait to see the world through their eyes. Please know that we are thinking of you through this process and we admire your strength.
What Makes Us Unique

We feel like the most important thing that makes us unique is our perspective on life. We know that this life is a journey and it is one we want to enjoy and explore each and every day. Something else that makes us unique is our passionate personalities. We aren't afraid to stand up for what we believe in and feel that it is our duty to share our knowledge and experiences with others. We fully understand that this comes with a responsibility to have empathy for others experiences, which we work to develop each and every day. This is an important aspect to adoption. It will be our duty to stand up for this child when various situations arise. We are confident that this sense of empathy and understanding will be important for us in our journey with an open adoption. We feel it is so important that this child knows where they come from and knows the people who brought them into this world.
Finally, we each have wonderful, fulfilling careers; we wouldn't call them "jobs," because we are doing what we love. We feel that this helps provide a sense independence, and allows us to provide a life that is full of new experiences. Our perspective on life, love for education, and passions truly make us unique.
Education We will Provide

"Failure is success, if we learn from it," Malcolm Forbes. Education is an important part of our every day life and it is a high priority in our lives. We find that it is important to find value in all experiences of our lives, whether these be in school or outside of school. We are always pushing on one another's thinking in all situations and find that it is important to learn and grow from each and every situation we are faced with. The education we will provide for this child will include many different aspects from school, to life experiences and many conversations about life itself. We feel that it is important that a child not only learns from their family, but that it truly takes a village. This child will learn from other family members, a diverse education in their school, and life experiences.
We both are very passionate and find joy in the careers we were brought to through our education. We hope to show that not only education, but drive and passion brought us to where we are and we are so thankful for that. We hope to provide many opportunities for this child to learn not only about the world around them, but also their own identity, passions and joys they find in life.
Discussing Adoption

We believe that it is important to discuss the child's journey to us from birth. We plan on discussing the child's adoption journey from day one. It will be important for the child to hear a positive adoption story and reassuring language from the beginning, and we feel that this is the critical foundation that will support the child's understanding of who they are and where they came from. If the child is always hearing their amazing journey to us, and the wonderful people that are apart of their journey, they will know how to talk about it to others. We also feel that it will be important for the child to hear stories of other families like ours. This will include us reading picture books to them at a young age, introducing them to families that are similar to ours, and explaining to them that every family is different. As the child gets older, and has more questions or wonderings about their adoption, we believe that it will be important to have an open dialogue. This includes providing the opportunity for the child to express and share their questions and feelings, so that we are able to provide them with answers and more importantly, with support. We feel it is important that the child always knows it is okay to ask these questions, even if they are hard.

Our House and Neighborhood

We have lived in our home for almost seven years now and love it more each year. It is a four bedroom home with a wide open living room that is truly the heart of our home. We love this room because it gets such great natural light and has views of our backyard. In our backyard we have a pool that we use all summer and Logan just recently renovated our deck. Summer is of course our favorite time of the year, so we love to hang in the backyard on the weekends and evenings as much as we can.
We enjoy the community we live in and have seen our neighborhood change so much in the past few years. We live in an area that is right outside of a major city, so we get to live the best of both worlds. We have a city to visit as much as we want and also green space. We live in a diverse area with younger families moving into our neighborhood, rapidly. We live about 10 minutes from the "main street" area, which we go to regularly.
There are countless shops, restaurants and events. We love jumping into the culture of our area and interacting with the families and people in our community.
Our Extended Families
We have a very large extended family and feel lucky to have many of them near us. When we shared with our loved-ones about our adoption journey, everyone was so supportive and excited to see our family continue to grow. It has been encouraging to see everyone so invested in this child. All of our parents live near us and are fully invested in their Grandchildren’s lives; they can't wait to share the love they have with this child. Elize has three younger brothers. Two of her brothers live in Michigan with their significant others and children. Her other brother lives in Texas with his family. We all get together a couple of times throughout the year outside of holidays. It is great to see the cousins play together, since they are all so close in age. We love being able to hang out by the pool, cook dinner together and play games, even if we get a little too competitive.

Logan's family is all local and we are so grateful for that. Ryan, Logan's brother, comes over regularly to play with Wes and have dinner with us. Our favorite thing to do when we are all together is play card games and we love to watch baseball, hockey or whatever sport is on at the time. We also have a large family get together with Logan's dad's extended family in the summer at a park nearby. This event is filled with games, laughter and love.
From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to read through our profile and learn more about us and our family. We admire your courage, and can't imagine how difficult and challenging this time is for you. We want you to know that we promise to give your child a home where they can be who they want to be, explore their passions and feel safe and loved to do so.
From the beginning of our relationship, we have always discussed adoption and how it might be an integral part of growing our family. Since we had our son Wesley, in 2018, our lives have been filled with love, laughter and so much learning. He truly makes us better people and continues to push us to grow into the parents we are today. We are so excited for the future and being able to grow even more as a family and as parents with this child.
After the past year, we know that we are on the journey we are meant to be on. Immediately after Elize's cancer diagnosis, we began to explore and learn even more about adoption. As we traversed each step in the treatment process, we continued to take deeper steps into starting this adoption journey. When Elize finished her final treatments, and was announced cancer-free this past March, we couldn't wait to dive in, knowing our family was meant to grow and that this opportunity was meant to be. We know that this adoption will be an amazing, life-changing experience and we cannot wait to share our love with this child. With our renewed outlook on life, we can't wait to continue to grow and learn as a family. We love being able to explore our passions and have new experiences as a family with this perspective on life.
For this future child and our family, we first and foremost value education. We feel that it is important that we are learning each and every day from the world around us. We also feel it is important to maintain a strong work ethic and have empathy for those around you. Providing a wide range of diverse opportunities and experiences will help us provide a deeper, more meaningful connection with our children, and as a family too. Whether it is through education, with our families, or in our community, we feel it is important to learn and grow each and every day.
We look forward to the role that you will play, in whatever way you feel most comfortable with. We feel that it is important that this child always knows where they come from and that you are the main character in that story. We are excited to find unique ways to celebrate the individuality of this child; what makes us different and what makes us the same. We hope that this child always knows that they can be whoever they want to be and that we will support them in finding that identity along the way.
We look forward to sending email updates that include pictures and stories. We will send letters with hard copies of pictures and small tokens to show the milestones in your child's life. We feel it is important for you to be apart of your child's life and we look forward to building a relationship with you in whatever way you feel is best for you and the child. We are not only committing our love and support to this child, we are also committing it to you. You are courageous and are making a brave decision, we will always respect you for that. We understand that this has been a very difficult decision, and we want you to know that we will always be thinking of you.
Sincerely,
Logan & Elize
