Adoption in Our Lives

Adoption Is Already a Big Part of Our Lives

Adoption has affected us in different ways.

Beka's younger brother and sister in-law completed their adoption journey with their baby girl in 2024. She is the happiest, most perfect little babe. She's brought so much joy to the entire family. We had already been seriously discussing adoption, but being able to witness their success story firsthand was the motivation we needed to take the leap and begin our own adoption journey.

Curt's parents were never able to conceive, and he was adopted as a newborn. He had a wonderful upbringing and was well-loved by his entire family. He never felt as though he was "different" than the other kids growing up. He always knew he was adopted. When he told Beka about his adoption while they were dating, it was so nonchalant. So other than the fact that he was adopted, he doesn't feel like it has really had much of an impact on his life. It's just a part of how his story in this life began.

That's our hope for our child. For them to always know about their adoption, while it might be their first chapter in their life's story, it won't define who they are.

Our Passions

Curt Teaching Our Nephew How to Ski

For more than 20 years, in addition to his full-time job, Curt works for ski patrol in the winter. He started cross-country skiing when he was just 3 years old, and eventually moved on to downhill skiing. He was a ski instructor for a few years before transitioning on to ski patrol. Being a patroller also means you're a first responder, so he is certified in CPR as well. He loves being "on the hill" and helping the guests. For the last 3 winters, we've taken our nephews skiing. It's so sweet watching Curt teach the boys how to ski.

Beka Performing

We both also love baseball and softball. We've been a part of the same recreational softball team for the past 5 years.

Beka is an award-winning musician. She's been singing for her whole life and playing the guitar since she was eight. Her parents were musical; she remembers them playing guitar in the living room when she was growing up. For the last 4 years, she's been playing music professionally, playing gigs at restaurants, wineries, and private parties. She was recently recognized with an award for the Best Female Cover Artist.

We look forward to sharing our passions with our child. We also hope that they will follow their own passions, and know that we will support them wholeheartedly.

Our Pets - Tucker & Monty

Tucker & Monty

We have two pets; a 10-year-old orange tabby cat named Tucker, and a 7-year-old Bernedoodle named Monty. They're affectionately known as "our guys."

Beka got Tucker while we were dating. He was her 30th birthday gift to herself. He's the sweetest and is definitely Beka's cat. He loves laying in Curt's slippers though.

We got Monty the year we bought our house. He was the first puppy Beka ever had, and the first pet we ever had as a couple. He's our baby. He's got the goofiest personality. He's 105 pounds of fluffy silliness. He gets along with all our family's various dogs and loves spending time with our nephews and our friends' kids. Whenever we visit our family, he comes along, so he loves car rides. He loves meeting new people, and whenever we're walking with him in public, people stop to ask us about him. We can't wait to see him interact with his baby brother or sister!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in the suburbs of central Pennsylvania. We bought our home in 2017. We live in a very good school district, and are within walking distance of the school our child would attend, as well as a wonderful park with a huge kids play area. We love taking our dog Monty for walks there when the weather is nice.

Our home is a single-family split-level home with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a 2-car garage. Our TV room where we spend most evenings can be found on the ground level. On the main level is the kitchen, formal living room, and dining room. We've had dreams of hearing the pitter-patter of little feet running around the wood floors on this level.

The bedrooms are all on the 2nd floor. We've selected the 2nd bedroom, which is right next to our master bedroom, for the nursery.

In the basement is where you'll find Curt's woodworking shop. He loves building things and using his hands. He built Beka a custom guitar rack and a stand for an award she won!

Just last year, we completed renovations on our back yard, turning it into our own little piece of heaven. It's perfect for entertaining (every year we have a 4th of July party), or hanging out just the two of us with our dog after work. There is lots of room for our nephews and friends' kids to run around, and even for a swing set someday!

Our Extended Families

Beka & Her Mom

Spending time with family is so meaningful to us. Even though Beka's brothers live far away (one in FL and the other in HI), we try to get that whole side of the family together at least once a year. Beka's "Gramma" will be 95 this year, so any time spent together with her is so special. She and Beka's mom both live in NJ, which is only 2 hours away by car.

With Family at the Jersey Shore

Curt grew up about an hour and a half north of where we live. His parents, aunts, and uncles all still live there. We try to visit that area every month, trying to coordinate with Curt's cousin (who is more like his sister), so we can spend time with her boys (our "nephews"). We love to do fun things like ice skating and skiing as a family. We think it's so important to create lifelong memories together.

This will be the first grandchild for Curt's parents, and the 2nd for Beka's. Everyone is so excited to meet this little babe of ours. We could never imagine being on this journey without their love and support.

From Us to You

Hi! We're Curt and Beka. We are incredibly honored that you are considering us to adopt your child. Your strength and courage to consider adoption is so admirable. We could never begin to imagine the weight of the decision you are about to make, and we want to be there for you in any way possible.

We're a married couple who live in central Pennsylvania. We've been married for 6 years and together for 11. Our relationship is strong, steady, and loving. We unconditionally support each other and each other's passions; Curt has been a ski patrolman for over 20 years, and Beka's an award-winning musician. We love skiing and playing softball, and are avid college football (OH-IO) and Major League Baseball fans (Let's go Orioles and Mets!). We also love spending time with our friends and families, travelling to new places, and spending time with our dog and cat.

We've always envisioned a home filled with laughter and love. We tried unsuccessfully for years to start a family on our own. Through the love and support of our families and friends, we've healed from that heartache and are now so optimistic and hopeful for the future. Overcoming those trying times together has only strengthened our relationship.

If we were chosen to adopt your child, we want you to feel assured that they would be raised with two fun and loving parents, a big goofy dog, a sweet and chunky cat, and a big extended family.

Our home is beautiful, with a back yard that our nephews and friends' children love running around in. We live in a neighborhood within walking distance to both the school your child would attend, and a lovely park that has a big kids play area. We really enjoy walking with our dog, Monty there.

We know we will be awesome parents, and would do anything to ensure your child is raised in a home that is always safe, and will live a life that is fun and full of love and adventures.

Curt was adopted as a newborn. Times were different in the 70's - he never had the opportunity to know his birth parents. He's always known he was adopted. He was raised in a loving home with parents who adored him. We feel Curt's experience will be a benefit to your child because they will already have something so special in common.

As the child's birth mother, you are a very important person in our lives. We understand you may not know how involved in the child's life you might want to be yet, but we want to assure you that they will always know about you and the beautiful way their life started. We are open to setting up communication in the form of letters, emails, and photos in the future, depending on what you're comfortable with.

It's hard to put into words just how grateful we are that you would consider us to adopt your child. Having a family would be a dream come true for us and our family. There will be no shortage of love, warmth, comfort, and security.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us.

Very Sincerely,

Curt & Beka
