Our Child

A Day at the Beach

We adopted our son George when he was born in 2021. What an incredible day that was! We quickly learned what a huge job parenting can be and how rewarding it is as well. The experience and thrill of being parents to a curious little 2-year-old has changed our lives for the better. We love witnessing him discover new tastes, words, sounds & sensations. This journey has brought us so much joy and he makes us proud every day.

Merry Christmas

We feel George would be a great brother to a little one. George is a busy little guy and he loves to interact with other kids. He would love having a playmate to pal around and get into mischief with!

For Kevin and Stephanie, siblings remain their closest friends and having siblings made growing up more fun. We hope to give that same experience to a little one and George, so they might be lifelong friends and always support each other.

Education We will Provide

A Visit to the Tulip Festival in Michigan

Education is extremely important to both Kevin and Stephanie. At home we love reading and plan to instill this love to a little one as well. Equally important for kids is outside exploration. It teaches kids appreciation for nature and fondness for physical activity and fresh air. This is something we intend to encourage with daily walks and activities outside no matter the weather forecast!

In terms of schooling, we intend to enroll the child in nursery school to help them acquire social skills early on and learn from a number of role models. The elementary school in our town is award-winning with a beautiful science lab, music room, outdoor classroom and fun playground not to mention incredible teachers. We are confident that this will be a nourishing environment and spark intellectual curiosity. Beyond just the classroom, there is so much more to learn.

Our childhoods were enriched by travel, visits to museums and cultural centers, summer camps, hosting exchange students, and so much more. We look forward to introducing these experiences to a little one as well.

How Adoption has Affected Us

Our Family

Adoption is an amazing journey. Kevin and his sister were both adopted at birth and a number of close family and friends are also adopted. Kevin's adoptive parents have wonderful stories to share of picking Kevin up at the hospital, bringing him home and introducing him to his big sister who was so excited to get to know baby Kevin! His childhood is full of fond memories. Kevin is so appreciative of the sacrifice his birth parents made in order to give him the opportunities he had growing up. We also met our son George through an incredible adoption journey. We admire the strength of his birth family and have built a strong bond with them - they are very important people in our lives. We look forward to celebrating this little one's roots and sharing their birth story with them so they're able to appreciate the significance and importance of adoption. We hope to facilitate a bond between the adopted child and their birth family. We feel it's important for kids to know their story, their birth family and identify with their cultural heritage. We've been blessed with large supportive families and want our children to have the same benefit.

Our Extended Families

Stephanie with Her Sisters and Niece

Kevin grew up in a loving family with his parents, older sister, extended relatives and lots of furry friends. Kevin has fond memories of traveling with his family in an RV across country and into Canada and Mexico, meeting up with relatives along the way. Included on the itinerary was a stop at the World's Biggest Picnic Basket in Newark, Ohio! Stephanie is the third of four children from a fun and loving family in Kansas. With a large extended family, holiday gatherings are always eventful. This includes the time her grandpa brought out an old box of Christmas lights to decorate the tree. He opened it by the fireplace and unleashed a swarm of baby flies which were apparently hibernating in the box - opening gifts and for the rest of the evening, everyone was dodging and swatting flies!

Swinging with Grandpa

Our extended family traditions include gathering together for holidays and celebrations, traveling, attending sporting events and dance recitals, playing board games, putting together puzzles, camping, biking, and participating in community projects.

We're blessed with our close family relationships and each other. We hope to bring your child into our family and share our love to help them grow and flourish.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a close-knit community in Southwest Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our neighborhood is full of friendly folks enjoying all the area has to offer - its artisan community, beautiful beaches and waterways, nearby animal, fruit and veggie farms, snowy winters, rich history and friendly people.

We like to spend time hiking area trails, supporting the local high school sports teams, attending nearby festivals, and swimming and boating on the lake. Kevin enjoys fishing, golfing and perfecting his bbq-ing skills. Stephanie is an avid hiker, enjoys practicing yoga and loves going to baseball games. Together we like spending time with friends and neighbors and taking in the seasons.

Our home is modest in size but full of character with lots of windows to let in the sunlight. It also has plenty of outdoor space for playing and relaxing beneath big leafy trees. We have wonderful neighbors and we all look after each other. There is a park, jungle gym, tennis and basketball courts within a few minutes' walk from our home.

The school system in our town is lauded amongst the best in the state for both elementary and middle/high school. And the public library is a favorite spot of ours with a great selection of books, movies, puzzles and fun programs. The area makes for a wonderful, safe and supportive place to grow up.

From Us to You

Your strength and courage is admirable in considering adoption for your child. It is not an easy decision and we're both encouraged by your selfless act of kindness. We recognize the weight of your decision first-hand. Kevin was adopted at a young age but didn't have the opportunity to know his birth mother. He grew up in a loving family but due to the closed adoption culture of the time, didn't get to meet his birth parent. Should our wishes come true and we're able to adopt a child, we want to be sure that child knows his / her birth family and adoption story and how important and loved they are.

We want nothing more than to be good parents and role models and to share our experiences and love with a little one. We look forward to raising a healthy, happy child and teaching them to love themselves, others and all life has to offer. We are excited with the opportunity to help develop, guide and play with a little one as they grow into a strong, independent and loving person. Whether the child shows interest in Little League, ballet, science, 4H, or painting, we will encourage them to explore these pursuits and more. Our goal is to be supportive parents who attend games and recitals and look after the little one and their teammates, classmates and friends.

We have been married for nearly seven years and have known each other for over 20. These initial years of being married have been amazing and we're thrilled to start the next chapter in our life by growing our family and focusing on our time and sense of adventure with a little one. We have been blessed with a lot of love and are eager to share this love and welcome a little one with us for our next great adventure with your kindness and generosity. We're not so thrilled about changing dirty diapers, sleep deprivation or discussing the birds & the bees, but assure you we'll embrace each sticky situation to the best of our ability and persevere with another memory to add to the journal of life.

Our families and friends mean a lot to us and we are fortunate to have them in our lives. With a strong foundation, unrelenting love and nurturing, we are eager to start this journey with you and your child. A meaningful education - both inside and outside the classroom - is important to develop skills beyond what's learned in books. We'll continue to engage in activities within our diverse community to help this child grow strong in character, culture and self-confidence. We look forward to building traditions with a little one including gathering every evening around the family dinner table, reading before bed each night, getting lots of outdoor exercise and fresh air, learning to love vegetables, treating animals with kindness, exploring, failing, succeeding, travelling, challenging themselves and appreciating family and friendships.

We promise to send letters and pictures of the child so you can keep track of their milestones, watching them grow and keeping tabs on what they learn and accomplish. We also hope to exchange emails and photos online as well as plan occasional visits. Whatever your comfort-level, we want to meet you there!

Thank you for your consideration of us as adoptive parents for your child. We wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy and adoption decision!

With love,

Kevin & Stephanie
